MY BACKGROUND
A Dedicated Art Teacher
Since 1995, I’ve been working with students of all ages and abilities and guiding them as they increase their practical and theoretical skills. I love sharing my passion with others and am so grateful that I get to do this incredible job every single day.
As someone who had to practice incredibly hard to get where I am today, I know the importance of a good Art Teacher. I’ve taken everything I have learned over the years and combined it into an approach that is friendly, approachable and effective. Contact me to find out more.

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING
Individual Cognitive Constructivism Teaching Philosophy
-By Don Wade
"We all must embrace failure as an opportunity for problem solving".
-Don M. Wade (2022).
The theoretical lens that guides my teaching practice is individual constructivism; cognitive constructive development through social experience and individualized learning.
The foundation of a successful teacher is associated with positivity that is shared by both the students and teacher. Positivism as a reward should be opportunities found within the individualized learning plans and curriculum. It should be every teacher's intention to reward every student with positive and nurturing characteristics everyday. We must be more than just teachers that understand how to teach the subject matter. Just like the adjustment time it takes for us to see correctly when entering a room from a brightly lit outdoors, so it takes the mind and heart some time to “cope” with free will after having someone else’s expectations placed onto them. (Kohn, 1996).
Teachers need to be better prepared for misbehaved students and poor judgment made by the children and young adults. One way that today's teachers can prepare themselves is by understanding the concepts of different teaching methods and models, and choosing the theoretical parts most important to the classroom. Shared positivity is a relationship between a student and the teacher or parent, and in a learning environment that provides all the tools necessary for success, the student can develop a contributing behavior prudently.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” -Pablo Picasso (1881–1973)
We need to be educators of equity, and all equity is a characteristic of quality. Choosing to be fair and impartial to everyone is a characteristic quality that we all can work toward developing. Being a person sensitive to circumstance for my students is my way to make equity my commitment in my class. This will allow me to facilitate the tools and support system necessary for my students' success.
Greeting students in my safe space and modeling strategic vulnerability with personal experiences, self-reflection and problem solving strategies, to effectively discuss why these things are important will help discrimination look different by creating examples for kids to build relationships from. The names and backgrounds of people are the most important part of the safe space. All procedures are respected by students to form a strong chain of activities, without wasted time. Building positive relationships on individual levels is where it all starts. (Hardin, 2012). Underlying the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy will be evident by my "classroom globalization" of ethnic acceptance and intersectioning curriculum.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge". - Albert Einstein (1879-1955).
